BOTOX® Facial Rejuvenation

Lines can be softened or, in some cases, erased, by means of filler injections‚ or surgical peeling treatments. Injections are given, usually to the forehead frown area, which temporarily put the frown muscles to sleep for a period of three to four months. This freezing of the muscle is always temporary and can never be permanent - this is why the treatment is called “The Hibernation Treatment” - the muscle temporarily hibernates.

The aim is to break the habit of frowning and educate the client in his or her facial movement so that one forgets how to frown. Usually patients have several of these injections over a year or two until the frowning habit is broken.

Apart from the habit-breaking aim, other positive benefits are that:-

  • While the muscle is temporarily immobilised, the forehead is at peace‚ and the frown line is not being created or reinforced.
  • Most clients notice that their existing frown lines do soften-out because the forehead is completely relaxed.

Additional benefits include:-
(i) Tension headaches may be eased.
(ii) Excess sweating from the armpits can be abolished.

What will Botox® do for me?
Botox® will help with crows feet lines around the eyes, which many men and women feel age them. It will also stop the lines between the eyebrows and over the brow caused by sun damage and the persistent use of the muscles in this area.

What WON’T Botox® do for me?
Botox® will not eliminate fine lines and wrinkles permanently, nor will it address problem areas, such as nasal labial folds, lines around the mouth or lines and skin folds on the neck. These areas would be more appropriately treated with dermal fillers, such as Restylane®, or by surgery, such as a facelift, brow lift, laser resurfacing or deep peeling.

How long will the effects last for?
The effects of the injection can be seen any time between 24 to 72 hours after the procedure, with paralysis complete at 7 days. This paralysis, after the initial injection, should last for up to three months but, for many patients, this may be longer. If the Botox® has not taken effect within two weeks from the initial procedure a free top-up‚ will be carried out.

Will I have scars?
Botox® injection into the relevant muscle group is performed using very fine needles so scarring is very unlikely.

Conclusion:
Botox® is the ideal treatment for anyone concerned about lines in the forehead region and around the eyes.
